Fully understand your reasons for doing it hands on. I feel the same way. One benefit that I have is where I work. I have access to CAD software that can do a layout of the tube like you built and I can them print a full size template to use to make the cuts with a hand held plasma. Sometimes I do consider my time as free when working on my truck projects, but here lately I don't know what free time is...
