Had a clunk in my C10 for a long while couldn't find it until my exhaust manifold cracked. When replacing it I found that the exhaust pipe was hitting where it went under the panel on back of the cab. It was just a sparatic clunk didn't do it all the time.
Just thought I would throw this in there because sometimes the noise turns out to be something different from what you thought. I thought my noise was a ball joint because it did mostly when I was turning a corner.
