I don't see any reason you couldn't use the original carb, just get a couple of shorter bolts for it. Linkage should not be a problem.
In your case, the extra 40 cubes might mean a different carburetor calibration, like the jet and metering rod. Not that familiar with Monojets, but GM made dozens of differently calibrated carburetors.
