Re: Hood safety strap

As long as the safety catch is on and working right you shouldn't have a problem. The problem including mine when a truck blew my hood open in Wyoming was because the latch was suspect to begin with. One of those little details that I knew wasn't quite right but didn't take the 30 minutes it needed to address it.

One thing that I have found out over the years is that the fender to firewall braces are there for a number of one reasons and a main one is to keep the nose from moving around allowing the hood to pop open. If a guys hood pops open too often you can bet that those braces are missing. They were missing on mine when my hood blew open as I thought I was "cleaning up" the engine compartment.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
