Muriatic acid is wicked stuff and I wouldn't go near a set of aluminum wheels with it ! I made the mistake when I was younger of putting a carburetor in 1 part muriatic acid to 10 parts water and literally only about 3/4 of the carburetor emerged hours later. There is info on here about cleaning billet wheels with the acid , not sure how different that is. Jmdero is a member here who does detailing and he helped me out with mine. Search "how to get oxidation off billet wheels"
