Now if that is not a good reason to upgrade the front to the D60!!
Remember do change the master cylinder and proportioning valve though as you are going from drum/drum to disc/drum!!
Does your original D44 have the 12" drum brakes? Are they still any good?
What did you do to break the knuckle?
