is there something special about the area where the latch and hinges are?
fiberglass is fairly easy to work with...the best option would be take a section out of the center, and join the 2 ends in the middle..but removng a section from either side of the latch will work also
you can leave a small gap between the pieces for resin to flow into , and overlap the fiber over the cuts on the outside of the box for the strength,,,then sand the inside smooth..the outside wont show as it will be under the bed
