It turns out the precision converter I had was wrong. The mounting pads and the pilot snout were for a non LS 4L60. I called and talked to Brian at Circle D and he got me set up with the right converter that would be used with my stock flexplate without the need for a spacer.
The engine/trans are back in the chassis for good. I set it up for 5* down angle and mounted the trans crossmember. I'm going to have a local shop build the driveshaft this week. Small progress but I'm moving in the right direction.
