I actually have so many parts around the house for 3-4 projects I lose them in the house all the time! Sometimes I look for hours to not find it and then have to go on to something else. But I usually find something I was looking for and earlier project, lol

Now that sounds all to familiar
Even though mine are all in the same shop, it's always a gamble whether or not they hide upstairs or down. Usually I think I am being good when I dedicate a shelf for a project, bag things, walk them upstairs and drop them on the right shelf. somehow that only lasts for a week or two. then the mixing magically begins.
