You can do it under the rear end but the shocks will push the body and frame on up. When you put them under the frame you have the weight to keep them in place and use the jack to help you remove them if it needs to come down a little are go up some. Taking the wheels off want help a lot but may could depending on how you work.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
