It may be just me but short bed trucks are go get groceries trucks . Real trucks are long beds . Even my 07 dodge is a long bed. Never had a short bed and I most likely will never .

Looks, value/resell investment, and popularity just to name a few reasons. I agree that a work truck is better suited to have a longer bed, flatbed, ramp, or dump, but most people ,including myself, much prefer the look of a SWB. The cold hard fact is that the truck in that picture above is worth more money and would be attractive to way more people if it was for sale in the SWB configuration.
That is doubly true in the case of patina trucks. A patina’d SWB truck is very desirable these days to a lot of people, whereas a patina’d LWB or C-20 is looked at as a rough old work truck. A lot of the same people that would lay down cash on it if were a SWB won’t give it a second look as a LWB.
I have a very solid patina’d ‘70 C-20 that I tried to sell for quite a while and people either wanted parts or wanted me to give it to them for almost nothing. If it was a SWB, I would have got good money for it a lot time ago.
