Regarding your second question about bedside differences....the longbed bedside has a different wheel arch than every other model. In other words, Blazers, Suburbans, and shortbed have the same wheel arch. Here are two threads I found discussing the difference.

Thanks for the reply, I am going to keep my eyes open for a suburban quarter. Not in a huge rush as I want to tackle the repair this winter
