Coil Springs
I just got the upper and lower ball joints replaced on the 67 C10, and before I put the spindles back on I figured I should replace the 46 year old coil springs (shocks too).
I thinking about getting Moog # 6082 (Constant Rate Springs) for the front and Moog # CC603 (Variable Rate Springs) for the rear. The links are for RockAuto info pages. The description of the rear springs says: "cargo-coil, variable-rate springs as an upgrade for vehicles that carry heavy loads." and "The cargo-coil, variable-rate springs change resistance as they compress and become progressively stiffer as the load increases." Anybody used either of these? I like the idea of the cargo coil springs - the truck is a daily driver that has (and will) routinely be loaded with 1000lbs of feed. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

Re: Coil Springs
I have installed many of these variable rate springs and they do work well. They have been around since the early 90's. The nice thing about these springs is that they will retain the ride height no matter how much load (up to capacity) you put on them.

Re: Coil Springs
That is good to know. The front end gets way to "light" when loaded with feed right now.
