A friend of mine has a 66 chevy swb with a 250 six and was thinking of going with a small block.how much work is involved in this type of conversion? it has a 4 speed in it now and he would like to keep the 4 speed

you need a set of small block motor mount brackets and towers.... its basicly the same swap as it is on a 67-72..... not very hard

It is a very easy swap to do. We swapped out our 6 for a 350 in our "64". The only thing that we had to do was get motor mounts for the 350 plus we had to find a donor pickup that had a V-8 in it and use the passanger side frame mount. The 6 and V-8's have the same bell housing mount bolt patterns. Good luck and you will like the change.
