Talking Nsane Hot Rodz 67' Build

This truck was pulled out of the mud in SC and hauled to Nsane Hot Rodz last friday. The truck is going back mostly stock with the original 327 engine and change it over to an automatic. The owner wants to leave the exterior mostly stock looking with a few upgrades on the suspension and brakes. Enough with the talking here's a few pics.

Wow, you're a busy dude! This ought to be a sweet build. Will it be hard for you to not want to modify it? (I'm guessing, no. You'll be done with this in a breeze since it is a stocker) Good luck with it!

Thanks! Ryan dropped the top off today, so next week we will blast it and make a decision on the roof repair. The doors and dash were sprayed with two coats of epoxy Friday. More pics next week...

Re: Nsane Hot Rodz 67' Build

Okay guess I should tell the story on this truck....I work out of town and sometimes the rides are really long especially in the summer time...I work for railroad and we usually try to car pool to our destinations...anyway one of the other guys had a craigslist app on his phone and he was showing it to me so I did a search for 67 using my zip code and this truck popped up with a higher price than I felt it was worth. I called the lady anyway and she proceded to tell me that it was her husbands and that he had passed 3 years earlier. She said she knew it was rare but wasn't sure why just that he had always told her it was. I could tell it was a cst with big window and buddy buckets in the pics, but on the phone she said seat was not original. I thought it could have been traded out for a dodge set after someone could have robbed the original. I decided to go have a look anyway as she said she would trade the seat for an original bench and even if it was a dodge set felt it would be a good trade for me. On arrival she and her son had cleaned out the shed with all the parts he had for the truck, many NOS. The truck was rough but had potential and I always wanted a true big window 67 anyway, love the lines on 67 best. She told me that they were on the fence about selling the truck and that her husband had had it since the early 80's. He had taken it to a body shop and paid a guy 10k to fix in mid 90's for a total frame off and everything back as new including motor and trans...shop rebuilt motor and then shop owner got in some trouble and eventually fled the area with no-one knowing what happened to him..the truck disappeared. The family is in law enforcement and the truck surfaced 10 years later in a drug bust behind the dealers house. The owners went through a lot to get it back and it eventually came home where it sit for years behind there house as owner grew sick and wasn't able to do anything with it. Family decided to sale and that's where I came in. The family were this came from are super nice people and asked me to fix so the son could ride in again and I promised when I did get it fixed I would bring back down and let him drive or ride. Now begins my project to get it finished and fulfill my promise hopefully before we are old and to gray to remember. Also thought it was cool that former owner was Julius Peppers uncle, since he is one of my favorite football players...let the journey begin

Re: Nsane Hot Rodz 67' Build

Nice truck! it looks like you barely caught that cab in time. Not that it matters but all of 67 doors i have seen have round holes on the inner panels for the outside door handle bolts not the upside down tear drop of the 68-72. I parted a 67 that had one of each. No big deal but the door handles for 67 are different from 71-72 as well. They look too solid not to use!

Re: Nsane Hot Rodz 67' Build

very cool truck that is a great find. i'm sure after dwayne an his crew are done with it it'll be one sweet ride.

those doors look great i dont think you do any better than those(i'm jealous)....oh btw the wing windows are not 67's so perhaps the doors were changed out when the po had it at the body shop. either way awesome!!!
