BBC finned valve covers! anybody else running these?

just got hooked up on a set of old cal custom finned bbc aluminum valve covers.i helped a friend track down a f+rd y motor for his model a 'rod he's building and he gave me the covers as a thank you. ive always liked the classic look of them. itll be awhile till they are installed, ive got to build the 454, but anyone else running them? im not sure if i want to polish them up or leave them the satin look, or even paint them. id like to see what other people have. thanks, mike

I have em on my 454. love the look! left em tarnished for now but think they look goo painted up with the fins buffed out too. Mine still have the knock outs in them that say cal custom and have the oil drippers. Most ground out the drippers to use roller rockers.

I am a big fan of the Cal Custom finned covers. I just got matching air cleaner lids a few months ago. I will take a pic of mine later. I had a set powder painted a silver/gray metallic.

Re: BBC finned valve covers! anybody else running these?

I think Summit sells these... on it when I bought it. I gave a set of old Weiand finned covers when we moved in '05... along with a LOT of other stuff I wish I had back. I like the factory chrome stock BB covers with the little dimples where the drippers are welded on. ALWAYS liked the SB CORVETTE finned alum. covers too. Old guys like old stuff, I guess.

Re: BBC finned valve covers! anybody else running these?

Heres the set of vintage Edelbrock covers im working on for my 63 c-10....be dropping in a big block soon (spring time). Heres a before and after picture...I have around 20 hours of work in them w/sanding, buffing and paint work. They were anodized originally w/4 coats of paint on top of that.

I have a pair like those in post #7 on the engine now, and will replace with these once im done w/the passenger side cover.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: BBC finned valve covers! anybody else running these?

Got a set on my 396, they're ok as long as they don't leak. Gonna be changing them this winter sometime to a newer style factory set with a set of good spreader clamps.

Got the same set as post number 1

I bet the truck was in the 200 plus range. I don't remember the builder but it was beautiful.
