BB Alternator Brackets

Can someone tell me what year truck this BB alternator bracket belongs to? 71 or 72 or either one? Also, is it mounted correctly?

Re: BB Alternator Brackets

It is 72 only. Do you have the support rod running from the back side of the bracket to the manifold?

I had that bracket on a 72 BB402 suburban and that support rod actually hit the front nub on the master cylinder.

Re: BB Alternator Brackets

Are you talking about the rod that goes from the outer edge of bracket down to cylinder head? (my left cylinder head has a boss for mounting this bracket) If you look close at the picture, you can see a bolt where the firewall side of the bracket changes angles. The rod is attached.

Re: BB Alternator Brackets

On my 72BB the alt is on the inside of the bracket and the bolt that adjusts it is on the out side. Makes adjusting the belt easer.
