I'm new here, I have a '72 C10 4x4-406cid, 4spd, new from the valve caps up. I'm starting a new proj. with someone's unfinished project, a 1967 GMC shortbox. My plan is to use a 350tbi and 700r4, my ? is, will ps/pb from a '90 suburban fit like the same parts from an '87 pick up? I can get an '87 wrangler complete and cheap, but I found a '90 'burb with half the mileage for the same money and body style is the same. Any opinions are appreciated

Picked '67 up today-not bad; took 13+hrs to drive 520 miles........Should pick up 'burb this week, gonna try swapping crossmembers still loaded-drum for disc eeaahheeaassy(yeah right)

Yes, everything will swap as long it it is the 73 - 87 style platform and not the GMT410 platform (92 - 99 body style.) When you do the swap, you can use your factory A arms., but you'll have to get the '71 - '72 size ball joints. You'll also have to go with bigger size tie rods from the newer Burb.

Another option is to drop the whole crossmember and swap in the new one. It will swap over and some people claim it is the easier way to go, but I disagree. The arguement is that it is time consuming breaking apart the balljoints etc, but I'd personally never upgrade a front suspension without doing that anyway. Most people these days are going to putting in different springs or bags anyway, that's a moot point IMO.

But anyway, sorry for the novel and welcome to the board! You have found the absolute best source of information for these trucks on the planet!

Nice trucks,thanks for the info.The burb in ? has 120000 km's(I'm canadian), that's 72000 miles,1989, I'm using entire crossmember,TBI350,700r4 and 3:73's.

I'd really like to keep 6-bolt wheels(8-inch rally)but need info on 6-lug rotors for '89 burb 1/2 ton(5-bolt) without spindle or caliper change. Anyone?

It's been a while coming but I got the 'burb tore apart, picked up a 3:73 diff for the '67 and sold a BUNCH of stuff off the 'burb to recoupe monies spent.I'd love to post pics but I can't seem to attach images to this thread( I may have done it!)

Well....gave the 'burb bits a cleanin and couldn't find a good dust boot or tie rod end within 15 feet of it! The '67 has recent front suspension(everything) so I guess it's a disc conversion with new drop spindles, rotors and calipers. Tore the motor down for a clean up and my brother talked me into rings and bearings; I hear that snowball starting to roll!

Thanks. I'm sure everyone can relate to not wanting to not do much else when you start a new project but work on it; that hasn't been the case yet, but soon I'll just lock myself in the shop with it and it'll be nothing but elbows and rseholes!!!!!!
