Re: dyed seats or carpet?
I have dyed complete interiors. Stay away from spray bombs! Go to your local body shop supplier and ask about PPG products as they are very good. There is a step by step process to dying if you want good results and for it to stay on.

Re: dyed seats or carpet?
I agree about the spray bombs. I used six cans on 1 bucket seat, and still have bleed through. The seats are real rough and uncomfortable now. I am sure it wont stay on very well. Just my .02 worth. I havent tried any other methods.

Re: dyed seats or carpet?
i used the spry bomb(i believe duplicolor) on all my leather and vinyl. i have used it for a while and it is cheap and easy. it holds up really well also. it says you can use it on carpet and fabric but it doesn't work at all.

Re: dyed seats or carpet?
I wanted to do it on my seat, but worried about it rubbing off on clothing, or eventually wearing back to a blue color in spots.

Re: dyed seats or carpet?
I used some fabric spray dye on my Camaro seat's once.
On the back seats that never got sat in - worked great. On the front seats, horrible. Just as everyone described. It was very rough and uncomfortable for a while. Then it eventually loosened up and just started wearing off. It didn't ruin any clothes, but it did go back to the the original fabric. Just get them recovered or have a shop dye them for you. DLB |

Re: dyed seats or carpet?
Yea - on anything non-fabric, it does fine.
That looks great. DLB |

Re: dyed seats or carpet?
Why not the spray bomb. When you use products such as PPG there is a step by step process the you have to go through.
In order this is what must be done: 1.) clean with vinyl/leather cleaner. 2.) Spray item with a chemical that will open up the pores of the vinyl/leather. 3.) Spray on dye .... you have about a 1/2 hour to do this. After this time the vinyl/leather start a process of closing up the pores and the dye is now trapped and cannot be rubbed off. 4.) Apply a conditioner to make the item that has been dyed feel supple. To do the job right as you can see takes time and the right products. Something a spray bomb cannot give you. Seat belt webbing can be purchased new as dying never works and leaves the webbing hard and crusty feeling. esll. With the price of interior kits most shops do not dye much any more as this was a costly process.
