Is this a speed warning?

Was wondering what this was? It looks different from the other speed warning speedometers I have seen. Possibly off of a larger truck? It was on a 3/4 ton GMC.

Re: Is this a speed warning?

Not speed warning. Looks like someone put in a vacuum gauge.

Re: Is this a speed warning?

Thats kind of what I thought but the gauge fits into the bezel with what looks like a twist on lens that was missing. The bezel looks to be stock but is different than any other that I have seen. The speedometer has that smaller speedometer within itself which I have never seen before either.

Looks like some aftermarket gauges someone added... Not factory on either.

Re: Is this a speed warning?

If the OP is talking about that dial at the bottom of the speedo, it isn't even from a truck. The speedo goes to 160, and it doesn't look like there is a penetration in the lens for a knob and shaft to dial the "alert" speed.

Re: Is this a speed warning?

I'm guessing those gauges spent some time abroad and that's a km/hr conversion (1 mph ~ 1.6 km/hr).

Maybe, but typically you just see a second set of numbers on the inside of the dial. No need for a second gauge for just a different unit of measure

I think that you are correct. I've recently seen a metric speedo on here that had 160 as the max speed. I'd like to remove the giant Pontiac vacuum gauge from the tach hole on my truck and put in a tach, and put a vacuum gauge in the unused hole. But I'd also like to put that external trans temp gauge that's on the column in that spot. I'm going to guess that the trans temp isn't all that different from coolant temp, based on my experience.

Re: Is this a speed warning?

Tomorrow I will check on what's up with the speedometer. What makes me think this is a stock item is that on the vacuum gauge the bezel has a raised ridged cast in it that the vacuum gauge actually fits in. Then it looks like a removable lens "missing" that goes over the top of it. unless the whole bezel is aftermarket that was sold with the vacuum gauge as a kit.
