Re: Eaton Posi sources and info
Bearing and seals are easily available individually. No need for a "kit"
The side bearings are on threaded adjusters - no shims.

Re: Eaton Posi sources and info
When you say "Eaton Posi" I'm going to assume that you mean the gearless type, like a lock-rite.
It basically takes the place of your spider gears. No need for bearings or re adjusting. Pull axle shafts out, pull center pin, remove spider gears, insert posi, re-install center pin, slide shafts back in, apply silicone, bolt everything back together, fill with gear oil, drive. Note- If you have a 4.56 or higher geared rearend, you may not be able to use the gearless style without swapping to the 4.11 and down carrier. |

Re: Eaton Posi sources and info
im talking about one of these. http://www.jegs.com/i/Eaton/362/1968...oductId=750876
If I plan on changing the gear ratio I have to change the ring and pinion gears. The ring gear looks like it bolts to the side of that eaton thing. But the pinion looks like it might need some bearings? when researching rear ends, I see a lot of talk about crush washers, and backlash and yellow paint etc. how do I know what I need. if its not obvious I haven't ever taken apart a rear end. Im willing to get dirty though Im planning on going from my current 4.11 to a 3.42 gear. |

You have a tall order for info. I hope this helps.
Looks like you're going to basically need a complete rebuild kit. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav...4b_Gear_Setup/ |

Re: Eaton Posi sources and info
We bought an eaton posi for my 77 C-20 14 bolt off of ebay. Got the bearings and seals from Napa and new axles from Ebay as well. Gear ratio is 4.10. Make sure your axle is either a 28 or 30 spline. The one in my 77 is a 30 spline. I believe the different sizes were 28,30,32..maybe even 29. But makes sure you check that before you order a ton of parts.
