I had to haul a ton or so of scrap steel over to the scrapyard today for work and I weighed the 68 C20 on their scales . Small block with aluminum wheels, 4 speed, dana 60 , minimal exhaust, and no spare. I weighed in at 4340 lbs with 5 gallons in the tank. Not much more than a big block chevelle.

LOL @ minimal exhaust. I have poverty pipes too. A 2 foot pipe with the muffs clamped on.

I dont think its all that loud but the neighbors might argue. Ive got 30" of 3 inch tubing running into 3 inch mufflers and dumping into 90 degree sections of 3 inch DOM schedule 10 stainless pipe. With the 234 degree duration at .050 cam it really drones at about 15 mph in second gear like when I'm heading to work at 4:20 AM and I leave my neighborhood. I'm in a nice suburban type neighborhood full of SUV's and hondas. They hate me.

That's about 50 to 100 pounds more than my 71 K10 shortbox fleet weighed with 32 inch BFG's on rally's.

long bed + 3/4 ton + 425 horsepower = hauls ass !

I'll tell you what . I had 2200 lbs of scrap steel in that puppy today and the back didnt drop more than an inch and it drove like it want even there. still had half a ton to go to its GVW of 7500 lbs.

just had my 68 1/2 ton SWB weighed a few weeks back and was plesantly surprised.... only 3620 with me in the darn thing.... i would never have imagined.... have stripped all unecessary weight off the truck over the last few years though and have aluminum goodies everywhere under the hood.... no wonder the darn thing does these wild fish tails through first and second LOL not setup for hauling though.... her and her coil springs only like to cruise my 175 lbs around

dont underestimate coil springs, yes they will haul 2 tons of weight, ive done it and drove on it before, tires dont like it though,

One trip to the dump I made, we weighed in at about 2550Kg or 5610lbs. This was a BIG load, and it cost about $100 in fines when I arrived at the dump!

had a 7000 lb load of gravel in my Ferd pull trailer(the loader got a little carried away!). 3/4 ton flat bed ,trailer ,& gravel went across the scales @ 14000 lbs! the damn trailer weaved all the way home. gettin back to the subject, my longhorn scales @ 4240,full of gas & driver......I go 220,so just a touch over 4000 on the truck. Now some will say ,cant be, but shes runnin 1/2 ton suspension,& pretty well stripped( no heater,air,inner front fenders,front bumper,has aluminum heads,intake,jaz plastic buckets,& a few things that I probably forgot!)..........69 longhorn.
