Ad says very little rust, runs, needs very little.

Does not run, Oldsmobile engine
Manual truck with auto tranny in it. Pedals still in the floor.
Bed rusted through up front
Floor rusted through in several spots
Kick panels rusted through..passengers side BAD
Rusted through rockers with poping bondo.
Thick bondo in cab corners with rust bubbles
Good amount of rust in the doors.
Minimal rust in the tailgate..but its bent.
No PS or PB

I didnt look at them closely to see what condition they were in. They were not beat up but there was so much bondo in this thing its hard to tell what shape they were really in. I was so discusted I just wanted out of there before I lost my cool!!! $1000 for bedsides is a bit steep anyway...there were NO good parts on this truck!!!

I asked over the phone point blank about all the typical rust areas and was told no rust. He also said I could drive it home. It wouldnt have driven on my trailer much less 70 miles home!!!

I dont know what it is about Carrolton...the last "rust free" "running/driving" truck I went to look at out there had all the brake components in the back of the truck and the alternator, water pump, distributor, carb., fan and radiator were sitting in the cab!!!! Runnintg truck....HOW???? And this guy restores cars for a living...you know he knew better?!?!?!?

It happens everywhere. A few years ago I called about a 1962 Thunderbird that was supposed to be all original and "running/driveable." Guy said he found it in a barn on some property he bought. Said it had original wire spoke wheels, white leather interior, original paint was faded, all glass was good. Said he wanted $1000 for it. Needless to say it was crap. Wheels were plain steelies. Leather was actually vinyl and mostly rotted away. Carpet was rotted. Car was rusted everwhere. And I have no idea if it even still had the 396 motor much less any motor. He broke the hood latch and couldn't get it open. Waste of my time

Yep, I've been there. We drove to Perry Georgia to look at one for good money (9K). It was about 4 hrs one way for me. I asked the owner a lot of specific questions before making the drive and to make a long story short...He Lied! My wife and I have been together nearly 13 years and she stills says that that day was the maddest she's ever seen me. Again. Thanks for the heads up. On a positive note, let us know if you find any bargains down that way.

I fought the urge to call about it but a "needs very little" rust free short bed for $1000 had to be investigated. I have not been looking or even calling about many of late. I have decided my collection of unfinished projects is too big and my desire for a 1948-1952 GM 2 door car has taken over. In order to get the quality car I want (no project), I decided to get rid of a few of my 67-72 projects. I have verbal commitments (no $$$ yet) on my 1967 Custom Camper (board member coming next weekend) and my 1972 4x4 Blazer (son of the original owner is buying it back by making payments) but I still need to sell the 1967 2x4 short step. Im going to put it on Ebay or take it to Moultrie.

I thought about posting a note on Craigs list about this truck but this guy has my phone #. I did call out of curiosity last night to see if it was still available....It was.

several years ago, when my cousin were parting a lot of these trucks, i guy brought a 69 CST/20, big block,a/c, etc. over to our yard to sell us. my cousin had spoken to him on the phone but had not seen the truck in person but explained to me that the truck had "very little rust", the owner wanted the bare motor back but we could have everything else for $500.00. my cousin had other commitments on the day the guy showed up with the truck and after i looked it over, i called my cousin and told him the guy had the description backwards--there was very little that wasn't rusty, it was out of utah. we ended up giving him a couple hundred bucks for it WITH the big block. we were able to save one fender but the rest of the body was scrapped.

When they say "rustfree" what they really mean is the "rust is free" so in a way they are being honest. Maybe what we should ask is..."Does the truck have rust and if so how many holes has the rust made?" Just a thought.

Read the e-bay ad. At the start he says "does not smoke or knock" then later on he says "motor does smoke". Also someone asked if they could drive it home, and he said "I would drive it, but you would have to make that call". Pretty hard to drive it if it doesn't run!

Also in the craigslist ad he said "needs very little". By reading his description on E-Bay, I would say it needs quite a lot.

I sent him an email to see if its the same person......but the pictures are a completly different location.

The guy selling it on craigs list was Dustin...looks like this guy is Fred.
