72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

hey guys i know theres lots of info on stock manifolds but i seem to be missing definitive examples for 4x4 frames. tbss? 98 camaro? 2010camaro? really don't want to cut my frame! 6.0l nv4500 if that helps. appreciate links to 67-72 4x4 lsx builds w/manifolds. lurked for a couple years and getting close to swapping.this seems to be one of the last questions for me.thanks!

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

it seems the tbss didn't work for wasted income on his pops truck?72 truckman used 05 1500 manifolds? i guess the height of the motor in the frame comes into play as well as distance from firewall?

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

I used the Ls3 manifolds from Camaro 2010 and no cutting, plenty of space.

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

I used a passenger side truck manifold from a 2006 Silverado (no EGR bump) and the drivers side one would have worked except the outlet dumped right on my external slave cylinder. They get pretty close to the frame but they fit.

Check the 4x4 build threads. There's a couple in there.

Joey Durango also comes to mind.

What crossmember are you using or you building your own?

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

thanks for the replies guys! i'll probably cut and weld my crossmember after the motor and trans play nice with the firewall and diff.i looked up joey durango but didn't find where he settled on a manifold. i was thinking of the ls3 manifolds but it seems the bolt pattern won't match my 2000 6.0l after looking at pics? i'm not totally opposed to shorties but i'de like to find a magic bullet for this.

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

Just FYI not sure if you have caught this or not but you can't compare any 2wd stuff because it all depends how you build or install your crossmember

2wd guys can just put adapters in 4x4 more involved

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

How true that is. It has taken me almost two months to find exhaust I would not have to cut or trim the frame.

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

I used 1998 f-body manifolds. I cut the stock 4x4 cross member and plated it for oil pan clearance.

Re: 72 k20 lsx exhaust manifolds

going to be hard to find now ... but the 2004 - 2006 Pontiac GTO manifolds are another option....

yeah, just a bit frustrating! my truck started as a c10 then c20 now getting towards a frame off k20.how did that happen for a dump run, john deere pulling work truck?

those gto manifolds look like they might be close to most mounts.but are almost iron shortie headers.
