U Joints - Moog or SKF?
I have my two piece drive shaft torn down for clean up, paint and rebuild. I'm torn between SKF non-greaseable and Moog greaseable U joints.
I've used both makers for bearings and suspension parts so I know they both make good stuff but on this I don't have any level of experience. Anyone got a preference? Just installed new trailing arm bushings and a set of McGaughy four inch drop progressive springs with new retainers. Got a shock relocation kit as well but gotta get the rear diff and drive shaft all fixed up before re-install.

I prefer greasable joints....I'd go moog
When I had my driveshafts shortened I requested greasable....

I’d go with spicer premium universal joints without grease fittings.
Moog has a good warranty, but you will be using it. Every 3-4 years you’ll be replacing them again. |

I would also go for the Spicer joints.....depending on usage (non greasable for the drags), but I prefer greasable for the street. Longhorn

Re: U Joints - Moog or SKF?
Thanks guys. No drag racing here with a tired 283! I'll order greaseable units and get the shaft ready for rebuild while they are on the way.

Sun Soaked,
I smell the sarcasm here. Miss type on my part: two piece drive shaft. When I was typing the original message I was counting u joints in my head I guess.

Lol. No sarcasm. I'm in the process of converting my 85 longbed to a two-piece unit due to a nv4500 swap. I didn't know if there was other options. I'm the first to admit the more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.

Sun Soaked,
Man do I hear you there! I'm just getting a good start on my truck and am realizing I am still getting and education. But, I will say this, my wife made this comment when she saw just the bare rear frame section sticking out of my truck: I am impressed you have the confidence and patience to tear it all apart and put it back together. She confuses stubborn with patience. It's funny what some people call fun. I'd rather be hiking, shooting, fishing, wrenching on my truck or bikes, etc. over watching sports or other stuff people find fun. Takes us all to make the world go around I suppose.
