Pro-Street 66 Build

As most of you know i recently bought my dad's truck that i pretty much built for him a couple years ago. Now that i have it i will start a thread on my progress. I recently bought a near perfect 65 with this cab that is nearly rust free. It is one of the nicest unrestored cabs i have ever found. So today dad and i set the cab on the frame and bolted it down. I have a bunch of items on order and hopefully by this time next month i will be driving it. I will be striping the whole truck down to metal and going back with the satin black paint and all new chrome and trim. I will post pics as i make progress.

Re: Another 66 Build

Thanks collins. I got real lucky in finding this cab. Aside from the surface rust it is a 9 out of 10 cab. I am thrilled to have found it.

Re: Another 66 Build

dude that's so awesome...so glad you were able to keep the chassis/drivetrain & continue the build...although my dad would've really loved to have it too, ....i just looked in the for sale section last night and noticed it was gone, so i was wondering what happened

Re: Another 66 Build

Thanks guys. When i sold my t-bucket i just bought the truck from dad so i will have something to tinker with, cuss at, scream at and so on, LOL. Nah, I hope to be driving it real soon. I plan to plumb the brakes fuel and tranny lines this weekend. Then on to the new Hurst V-Matic floor shifter and then i hope a trip around the block. I am trying to follow the same path that Markeb01 took on his truck. I love the 60's old skool look. Satin black paint and all. I am picking up my seat today from the upholsterer and the dropping off my grill at the powder coater. Can't wait for that first trip down the street. I am leaving the original paint on the inside. I LOVE the smell of these old trucks inside. Nothing replaces that.

Re: Another 66 Build

nice score on the cab looks great, by the way are you still running a 12 bolt and if so how much did you narrow it?

Thanks. No, we narrowed a Jag rear end and mounted it under there. Worked out great.

Re: Another 66 Build

was bummed to hear you got rid of the truck, & wish i would've known again beforehand...i came across the Craigslist ad and message, but the guy responding was "Mike." I had emailed asking about the drivetrain/chassis again, & I thought he was considering to separate. However, he changed his mind and decided to follow through with body work/paint before selling. Not sure if he's finished or not because the ad was apparently taken down, & I haven't seen it relisted. But i told him to let me know when he got done, because i'd like to see the finished product. If he sends you any pics of it once it's done, please post them up or email me!

Re: Another 66 Build

Well, i didn't save Zack's (CVA59) old pics which seem to be gone now...however, I have been keeping in touch (via email) with the guy who bought the truck...he has been doing the body work & putting it all together...my dad was interested in buying before all the work began, however the guy decided to keep it and finish instead...needless to say, I can't afford it & know my dad can't either now

Since I just got an update again with more pictures, I thought i would share...the guy said he's gonna list it on Craigslist tonight

Quote:
i have done a little more work, getting ready to install carpet, this truck is shaping up nice; might be willing to let go for $17500 with bed not completed. Doors are painted just need to install and build up. Gas tank in rear frame, here are some pics from today.

Will be willing to let go for maybe, $17500 ready to install carpet tomm., doors are painted just need color sanded no prob. have bed needs all work to and painted i have all paint material, have 60/40 seat with power seats, truck will be nice...let me know if you are interested. Gonna list tonite on CR list.

Here are a couple pics he sent back in August...color is Firethorn Red:

I agree, it looks good. I will keep updating as long as he keeps sending me pictures ...maybe he'll go ahead and finish it before selling, because I'd like to see the finished product.

Re: Another 66 Build

Got an update today via email. Mike still has the truck & continues to work on it, although progress has been slow he said. He just got the bed painted & installed. Still gotta add the trim & bed wood. Looks like he got the doors hung since my last pics & maybe some interior work.
