Cold master ac

I would like to put air conditioning on my 1970 Chevy C20 with the 350, 4 barrel carb, and automatic transmission. It was sold originally with air conditioning but someone took all the air conditioning components off a some point. So I was looking on eBay and I saw this kit for roughly $400. Has anyone installed this kit or have an opinion about it?

Doesn't look too bad to me but are there any reviews at all on it?

I know I had one in my 64 Plymouth that came with the car and had R12 in it. Turn that thing on and you needed a coat in the car. Only thing I didn't like about the under dash units was that angled side vent always pointed right at your lap and would make you uncomfortable quick.

That is a super low price. Might work well in some vehicles, but I don't think the evaporator unit will fit under the dash in a 70 truck. What is left of your factory air?

Re: Cold master ac

I have that unit in my 40 Ford Coupe and for a single cab application like our trucks it works very well.

Cold Master makes everything from big truck refer units on down, and I found them very good to deal with.
An example is the condenser size that I ordered was just a little to wide to fit in my space between the grill and radiator, I contacted them and returned it for a smaller one that they shipped free of charge to me which I thought was mighty nice of them.

Mine has been installed about 3 years now and is still working great, I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Could you post a pic of how it fits under the dash?

Thanks, it looks pretty good. The ad pic made it look big. I'm thinking about it now.

Re: Cold master ac

I found a source for a bracket to hold the compressor but my real concern is the evaporator underneath the dash. I measured everything and it should fit, but it's going to be tight.
