Timing for a 350???
What should be set at?cam is edelbrock 2102 in case you need this imformation.

start at 10º BTDC with the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged

With the good quality fuel lately
 I have been finding the need to turn the timing down on a couple of my trucks to keep them from pinging. My big bock is at 2btc at the moment. and my small block 400 is at 6btc

if you are running an HEI dist, i agree that 10 btdc would be a good starting point.....i am running "chit" fuel also, & set 6-8 up on my 383. The sb has an old points dist, with a Pertronics conversion & coil. there is much more mech advance in the old dist vs the HEI (20 degrees on the HEI, but i have 26 on the old dist!) I would need to time 12-14 up on an HEI, to have the total that i have on the point dist @ 6-8 up.....crazyL

What direction do I turn the distributor to Advance timing. i.e. clockwise or counter. Second question is on the harmonic balancer timing plate, does before marks mean advanced, or the after marks?
