What is the best way to remove carpet adhesive? Solvents, heat gun, cut out the floors and put in new ones?

J/K The PO sprayed tons of that stuff to lay the carpet and I want it out!

I don't know about carpet adhesive. . .but i have removed a lot of different kinds of adhesive and solvent is ok, but lots of effort in completely getting it out. . .if possible. . .a heat gun and putty knife to the big stuff and then when it's down real thin, solvent is good. . .but if you don't want to take a putty knife to it. . .i think solvent will work. . .just very time consuming IMO. . .maybe i'm doing it wrong though haha!!

are you trying to save the paint or anything...i was doing a valve cover gasket swap couple months ago and so i went to autozone and picked me up adhesive remover and sprayed it on the glue on the valve cover sprayed it and waited 5 minutes and it came off with my finger.... i bet it will work for this but it eats away paint so be carefull....this stuff works pretty good its like maybe 4 or 5 bucks or something like that if not cheaper

Aeresol Paint stripper would work too. You can get it at the local home improvement super stores. It will eat down to metal though, and you don't want to get it on ya. It is VERY aggressive. It's best to be able to rinse it with water when done. So it might, or might not, work for ya.

I'd rather not strip the paint at this point. The truck will be repainted eventually, but probably not for a while. Maybe I'll live with that carpet a little longer. LOL

I used tiny ammounts of areosol solvent and a razor blade scraper (unsure about what the tool is actually called). Took quite a while, but it worked for me. My project was more about getting the old insulation out, but it still had a ton of adhesive holding it down.

yes if you can handle the paint being scratched a little. . .the heat and anything with a solid, flat edge; such as a putty knife or razor blade scraper; will work. . .

If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. If a hammer doesn't fix it, you have an electrical problem!
