frame question
I have the 69 c10 and I am getting a 72 cab and frame for free. My question is can I put the 69 body on the 72 frame without any legal problems? I want to do it this way so that I can continue to drive the truck while I blast and paint the other frame.

I'll ask you a question....
How many times in your life has someone looked at the serial number on the frame of your truck? Down here, we do what makes us happy. In Texas, never once in my life, has anyone looked at the numbers on any of my vehicles, for any reason at all.

i agree with them been pulled over numerous times never once had any cop check the vin as long as ur paper work is in order registration and tags and what not you wont ever have a problem

contact you local dmv or state police headquarters. Explain what you are doing and they should be able to tell you the RIGHT way to do it! How would you like to wrap up a significant amount of cash in a truck only to have it confiscated? I'm not saying that will happen but it could. Just my .02. good luck

It's more than likely going to involve a trip to the HP dept,and have an inspection to make sure it is roadworthy,and then have a new title issued.That's the way it is here anyways.It's worth a call,they change the laws on this stuff all the time,who knows.

Thanks for all of your input guys you have been very helpful. I was thinking of the legal aspect of this in case I had to (heaven forbid) sell the completed truck.

The problem comes when you go to sell the truck and the next owner/state does check the VIN #. In WV you can get a rebuild title for it. Is a PIA to do as you have to have a Deputy come out and look at both cab and frame. Also have to have either transferred title or bill of sale for each. They also want pictures of the finished product and inspected before they give you a new title. The trick here is that you can't get it legally inspected without a good title/registration. Get the glitch in the system here??
