Ignition switch question...Need help!

My son and I have finally gotten around to removing the late model Impala steering column from our 63'. We are replacing it with a column from a 71' my buddy gave me. This is moving the ignition key back to its stock location. I have a stock switch but have run in to a problem. The PO replaced the entire wiring harness with an aftermarket unit which included an accessories setting on the Impala column but my stock switch has no accessories setting, leaving me with an extra wire to the switch. Is there GM switch that will fit the stock opening in the dash, not the column, that has an accessories setting to make my situation a non issue?

It is the beginning of a long holiday weekend... you may not get a good answer until next week sometime.

I may not be 100% correct, but I think my '66 had accessory on it. You may try a car ignition switch of the same era(maybe a '64-66 Impala) they were dash mounted also.

Re: Ignition switch question...Need help!

I am building my '65 back up from the frame, I removed every wire in the truck and I am replacing with new. For the ignition switch I replaced it with one for a '68 Chevy truck switch that was used through the late '90s in the panel trucks. Has ten wires but 4 are in pairs leaving only 6 actual connections. 1. Red for battery, 2. purple for start on starter, 3. pink for coil, 4. green for temp light, 5. brown for ACC, 6. last brown pair is for brake warning and not used on my truck. These are your 5 connections for your truck.
PS: the 60-66 switch has ACC on it but I wanted a plug pigtail for the switch, that is why I went with the newer switch, plus it was cheaper.

Re: Ignition switch question...Need help!

Maybe I am asking the wrong thing then. Maybe my switch is useable. I have the switch with the 2 plugs which go into the back with about 4 inches of colored lead wire off of them. I have 5 wires from my aftermarket harness, which are all labled and I dont' know which to match up to the switch. I will post all the colors and labled wires later, it is at my in law's shop. This is what I need help with, figuring out which match up to what..

Re: Ignition switch question...Need help!

I actually got a hold of a wiring diagram from the aftermarket wiring harness manuacturer and it explained how to wire everything up. My ignition issues are behind me now and I am trying to wire up the heater now.
