How to ship a stepside fender

I bought a stepside fender from fellow board member JJanzen recently and was very impressed by the packaging. With his permission, here is how he shipped it. Hopefully it is useful info for someone else. I forgot to get the exact measurements, but the total weight was 57lbs. Price of course would vary, but from Denver to Sioux Falls, Fedex charge was about $78.
Basically it is a wood crate made of 1x6s covered with cardboard for protection. The fender attaches to the "lid" with carriage bolts, and the lid is held on with screws. It stands upright nicely and is pretty easy to carry that way.

Nice packaging. If it was going a longer distance you could probably use some of that thin particle board or something. It does look like it fared well, though!

Re: How to ship a stepside fender

Glad to see someone took the time and trouble to do it right.
