Lower tailgate hinge
i have a fleetside ... where can i get new rubber for the lower tailgate hinge .. are they the same as the stepside lower hinge rubber or what ???...please help

I too am looking for the tailgate rubber bushings since mines been rattling around pretty good and driving me crazy!

There are no rubber bushing in the tail gate trunions for a fleetside or stepside tailgate. They are metal to metal from the factory.

here what im curious about .. this is from a truck shop catalog .... it shows that stepside have rubber .. im curious if you can use them on fleets as well ....something fits on the large hole of the trunnion ... im assuming its a rubber bushing

Stepside originals are cadmium plated steel. Looks like they made a poly version of it. Should be sweet for the stepside owners.
Haven't heard anything about poly versions for the fleetsides though.

The fleetside trunions are larger diameter than the stepside trunions.
fleet trunion is 1-9/16" outside diameter. step trunion is 1-5/16" OD. The stepside trunion will actually fit inside the fleet trunion. Both tailgates pivot on the outside of the trunion hinge.

1958-1966 Truck Fleetside Tailgate, Ultimate hinge Trunnion (2 Piece Set) made of Stainless Steel and Delrin.
These are replacement hinge trunnion parts to upgrade your chevy fleetside truck. These are perfect for the truck restorer! These are Very quite while opening and closing the tailgate. You have to reused your original Trunnion hinge plate/bracket as seen in the pictures. Just remove the bolt with lock washer, replace with these stainless steel hinge trunnions and bolt back on your truck. I recommend power coating or chrome your Trunnion hinge plate before installing these back on it. To prevent further rusting.
