Question Wiper Arm?

How do you get the dang wiper arm off? I've got a nice gash taken out of my thumb due to today's failed attempt. The spring in my driverside arm broke so it flaps a little above 45mph. Gonna get some new ones, cuz they look like the spings had been jerry rigged before.

there is a small silver clip that you pry away from the splines with a small screw driver while you pry up on the arm between it and the cowl. if you truck is painted, good luck, don't scratch.

Good warning, Powell72. On Tuesday, I pulled the wiper arms off my K10. Scratched the cowl all to heck. But I'm painting it anyway. Goffer, wrap a thick rag around the wiper arm shaft to stave off scratches. Three hands helps. One to work the little screwdriver and two to work the arm off the splines.

I force that little silver clip out with a small screwdriver first.
Then I wrap the base of mine with a rag, Next I grab it with a pair of pliars. Then Yank as hard as I can. I usually get it on the third try.

Don't try to pry it up with a screwdriver while using your cowl for leverage. You are asking to screw up your cowl that way

The silver tab has been mentioned, do that.
From there I use a chunk of old rubber bed floor matt I kept & cut into a square, lay it on the cowl to prevent any scrathing and use a small pry bar under the wiper arm.
Work the arm and it will come up pretty easily.
Good luck.

the problem with those is that they have a tendancy to damage your finish as it pushes against the body.

Hmmm, mine has a padded back (rubber or cork, can't recall). I've only used it a few times, no problems yet.
