Lower with springs only

Can I drop my 72 GMC 1/2 2wd 2/3" by using only drop springs? I have already installed new standard shocks and my spindels and ball joints etc are all good. Has anybody done this and what is the end ride height?
Thanks
JC

It's a little hard on the ball joints, but it works ok.

In what way? Does it cause them to wear faster?
