Battery

What type of battery came in our trucks originally? Top or side post? Went to Autozone last night to get a new one for my 71 Cheyenne and all they showed in the computer were side post. All three of my trucks are top post. Did any years come with side post batteries? Over the years I've owned around 15 to 20 of these trucks, never had one that had a side post battery. Anyone know what was original?

I found out that autozone does not have the brights peoples. So what ever they say and you don't think its right, than you are right. I change my top post battery to side post.

I can't remember when they switched to side post, but I know it was by '72. I'm thinking earlier than that, though...

I *think* my '68 was a side post, but not sure.

Battery

My 70 came with a top post Delco Energizer battery new. Lasted 7 years.
Second one lasted 3 years. I have had a Penneys life time battery in it for the last 25 years. Or actually numerous batteries that Penneys keeps buying me.

I converted my couple of trucks to side post. A lot cleaner set-up I think. Also do not have to worry about setting something across the terminals when I am working on it.
