Shipping Question

How much do you guys think it would cost to ship an engine from Ohio to Texas? I keep getting online quotes of $400 or more and that doesn't seem right. I put the weight down as 500 pounds for a 327/350 long block, do you think that's accurate?

Re: Shipping Question

I paid $400 to ship my LS1+T56 6spd from Orlando to Atlanta. It weight 750#'s and took up one single crate.

It's cheaper if you drop it off at the dock and the person you're shipping to picks it up at the dock. Would have cost me ~$250 to do that.

You pay more if it's residential delivery. You pay more if a liftgate is needed.

There's some cheap way to get shipping quotes - it's a program or a website somewhere.

Re: Shipping Question

Yeah, I know its cheaper to drop/pickup at the terminal but I must be picking the wrong class or something 'cause it keeps coming up in the $400 range and that seems high. I'll probably just have to make some phonecalls.
