All right. I have two blazers, one's a 1985 and the other is a 1972 I just bought. The '72 has a frame I can nearly stick my finger through because of dreaded rust but the '85 is more than fair. The obvious answer to me is to put the '72 body onto the '85 frame but can i do that? Are 67-72's interchangable with 73-87's as far as correct body mount locations and things like that? Anyone ever try this? I have to get rid of one of the vehicles by this weekend so I need all the info i can get. Thanks and I appreciate it.

I'vwe heard it can be done...but to the simplicity...no idea. I doubt you could do it by this weekend thoguh.

Ive seen it done,but remember if you use the 85 title you may have to put catalytic converters on it/or take smog test again. Good Luck

Just a thought: If you could just find another 72 blazer with all the good stuff you need, then you could spend the next two years building the blazer you want...use the 85 to chase parts. Its a lot of work, but just think of all the cool threads you'll be able to start.

I know this might vary from state to state, but if you do put your 67-72 cab on another frame,say an '85, what does it become in the eyes of the DMV, 67-72 or '85?........

Depends on which VIN the state looks for. Unless you get a very thorough inspection, they'll go of the easiest one to see (the body).

I have a 69 C-10 that is on a 79 frame. It will stay a 69 B.M.V. says it goes by the title if you have it titled a 72 it will be a 72 just defferent frame. I will tell you this if you have freinds that will help you get as many as you can. I did mine all by my self I will never do it again without the help. The frames are differnt but will work you will probly have to put a body lift on it anyway to get it to sit level on the frame. On mine I used the power steering, gear box your colmn will bolt to it, & the brake lines... the lines will screw right into the master cylinder on the 72... it is alot of work but the parts are really easy to find once you do it & alot of peaple have them that is a big plus to me...... let me know how it goes....

And so lots of comparing. Its doable but you need ot know what you are getting into before u start. Is the wheel basr the same? Mounts? One thing ot make sure of is that u can get the distributor out! I saw a guy do that one time, LOL. Mounted the cab so close to the motor, well, you know LOL!

Sounds like my easy-to-do swap isn't so easy after all. That sucks. I guess if I get desperate I'll give it a shot... I'll probably be on this board day and night then, trying to get all the help I can!

TRUST me it isnt that bad you just need help... I didnt have the help so it SUCKED really bad like!!!!!! you can do it & it can be done I'm living prove just get some freinds to help ya......
