Re: center link for disc brake conversion question

Any help would really be appreciated. Im at the yard now and found a 72 halfton with a good centrlink. I already have a 3/4 ton steering rack at home. So can I use the 3/4 ton centerlink at home or should I get this one?

Re: center link for disc brake conversion question

The centerlink, tie rods, spindles all have to match.
What year spindles are you using?

Re: center link for disc brake conversion question

71-72 1/2-ton and 3/4-ton centerlinks are different.
Tie rods are also different.

Re: center link for disc brake conversion question

Is there a specific center link for disc and is it different for 72-73up?

Re: center link for disc brake conversion question

You will need the 1/2-ton 71-72 centerlink, inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower balljoints to "easily" make the 71-72 drop spindles work.

The use of 63-70 drop spindles,... would have made your life easier.
They are a direct bolt on to your 67 steering and balljoints.

Disc brake centerlinks started in 1971.
It's all spelled out here,... but I don't think anyone reads this anymore.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=444823

Centerlink:
Grouped by Differences:
*60-62
*63-64
*65-70
*71-72
*73-87

With the introduction of CONVERSION drop spindles,... the 60-62 truck owners and the 63-70 truck owners now have their own disc brake spindle.
THERE IS NO NEED TO USE 71-72 or 73-87 SPINDLES TO GET DISCS BRAKES.

They've been around for at least 10+ years.
(for about $229 almost everywhere)
I try daily to get the word out.

Not many seem to read this forum to learn and help.
Most just log in and ask a question.
Kinda sad.
