New Guy

Hi all,
Just picked up a 71 K-5 Blazer, 350, 4 speed. Got it for free, one little spot of rust and a couple of dents. Towed it home did some wiring and put a new starter in it and it runs great!! I love it!! I looks to be all stock except for the fan and the carb. I was looking for basic info on them, where to get parts and what to look for as I start going through it.
Thanks

I'm new here too, but the parts board here is very active and the front page has a lot of links to parts dealers. In addition to the websites, I also picked up a free catalog from LMC Truck.

One of the board members here has chronicled his restoration on his website. He bought from several of the places linked to from this site, but can see from whom he bought what. Assuming he did his homework (it seems so), it could save you some time price shopping. Here's the link to his costs page which contains the info I was talking about: http://pattson.web1000.com/maych/mh_cost.htm

Of course Ebay has got almost everything under the sun, so I would check there too once in awhile.

MAN, Got it for free huh?? Do you want to sell it for 500 bucs??!!
Here is a pic of my buddies 72 with a 68 front clip. Good luck with the restoration!
As far as getting parts, there are a hundred companies out there selling parts for these trucks!

For free, eh? Well, it must not be worth very much then and you probably won't want to keep it. I think you should send it east to me. At http://64.246.42.114/ you'll find a listing of part vendors, one of the best is GMC Paul's as far as quality and service.

Anyways, since you probably won't send the blazer to me, welcome to the best board around! Got any pics of your steal?

Scott

I love that thing!! I was thinking about selling the Lancer and putting the money form that into the Blazer. I can get about 1500 bucks for it. I am pretty much obsessed with it. I am going to post some picturs soon. It is green with light green doors. Has all the orignal gauges and they all work. I don't want to do a total restore. I want it to look good and still be a functional off road vehicle. I am thinking about Line-X the inside. It only has a small spot of rust. The guy didn't know what was wrong with it and was moving. It was going to the junkyard or to me. I took it home put a new igniton plug on it form the junkyard, a new starter and hooked up that wire that goes form the positive battery termninal to that block on the fender well. She started right up!! Runs and drives smooth. The carb could use some help but no biggie. The engine was rebuilt about 3 years ago and has about 20,000 miles on it. The guy just didn't have the use or want to be bothered with it anymore. I was just in the right place at the right time. Now I am hooked the thing is a TANK!
