2wd Blazer Prices

I have been thinking of getting a 2wd Blazer and wondering what they are going for these days?

Well, all I know is that they are worth more than the 4wd's. And if your'e getting one, make sure it is a factory 2wd!! Its worth even more.

I don't think nada knows squat when it comes for pricing stuff like we have. I would say for a real nice one that you can show plan on at least 20k.

Under $5K - Few and far between and need more work than most can afford

From $5K-$10K - More redily available, makes a nice driver / toy to play with

From $11K-$20K - Becoming easier to find everyday, but can most afford that?

From $21K and Up - Been a few on Evil Bay lately, very nice, but very $$$

2K and I drove it on the trailer. Now it needs about 20-30K in parts to get it close to were it will end up. Not to mention about 2000+ hours of free labor

Buy someone elses dream for alot of $$$, or buy a fixer upper and create your own dream ride for alot of $$$ and time. A drivable 4wd in AZ goes from 6500-12000 I do not see many 2wd. Real nice ones are 20k +++. Either way you can't beat cruising with the top off..

There are a lot of factors for pricing. Location, season & what level of rig your looking for. 4wds converted to 2wd are usually slightly cheaper, but if they are done well, they can go for a premium too. Just recently, I've seen 2wd Blazers go from $1,400 to $36,000.

What is involved in converting a 4wd to 2wd will the front crossmember bolt in or do you have to do a frame swap. Seems 4wd are more common.

we paid $6500 for this . rust free and original 2wd.we found out later that it was a Jimmy in it's past life but i guess thats ok.i think they made fewer of the jimmys if i am not mistaken.

I found one for a grand, it needs work, but it is a real deal 2wd. I have a 4X4 and have had several in the past, but I can't see converting one when they bring decent coin as a 4X. I know a guy that does nothing but convert (15-20 so far) He says there isn't any other way to get a 2wd! From what I've seen on this board, most of these guys should be converting 4X's because they cut them up so bad that none of the original 2wd stuff is left. If they are so rare shouldn't we be trying to salvage them in a state to which they remain close to original (lowering is OK, but C-notch, bags, custom 4 links, etc, etc) should be used on converted 4X frames as to increase their value instead of decreasing it. I will buy the 2wd and soak some coin into it making it a nice driver, with my 6.0/4l80e, but staying with mostly stock suspension.

I kinda like the way you think. But it's supply, demand and personal preference that's driving the boat (or should we say driving the Blazer) on this issue.

I guess I haven't seen a complety stock one sell but it seems that the way people are this day in time are more into custom jobs over stock. What would a stock one bring vs one that is custom? If you are going to drive one I would much rather have all of the new age inovations applied to one than it be like it was 35 years ago. Not saying that the 35 year old design is bad but with all the aftermarket stuff out like brakes, air ride, aftermarket a/c, seats, stereo, and engines and o/d transmissions are a very good and safe investment when building anything this day in time. Anything that is for sale depends on selling by finding the person that likes what you have or something that they can change up a little with little or no effort. JM2C

I guess with so few original 2wd built It nice to see one in original condition. You''ll see 100 customs to 1 original If your lucky. It like muscle cars you just don't see them original very often. It can somtimes take you longer and spend more money to find original part than to build a custom. I'm not saying one is better than the other it just nice to see an original from time to time. It's all about personal preference.

I do not dig 100 point restos, I simply mean, don't cut up a perfect 2wd frame so you can put a C-notch in it and bag this or that. If that is your thing, then cut up a 4X frame, that's all I mean. I will lower mine with a static drop, put 20's or so wheels on it, with aftermarket AC, but it won't go so far as to never be able to be put back. I am all for Porterbuilts, drop member, but why not in a 4x frame!! If you put the dropmember into a factory 2wd frame, it is beyond the point of returning it back cause you have to cut the frame. With the abundance of 4X out there, get a 4X frame cut it up, put a dropmember in it, C-notch it, bag it, etc, etc. and nobody will ever know it was a 4X frame because with all the work it'll be custom. Then we are left with the vin issue, who cares about that, customize a 4X frame and sell your 2wd frame for the extra $$$ you make your 4X frame will be wicked!! I just like the fact that my 2wd will resemble its brother's from 35 years ago.

I didn't realize Bagging would cut anything? Mine appears still OE w/ bags.

I guess I have seriously hurt the value of mine since it has been c notched and the front suspension is soon to be cut up. The way I look at that is though you have cut stuff up some welding skills will put everything right back the way it was and you would never know.

Nah, cut it up, it just makes the original ones worth more, no tears here! Bagging doesn't necessatate cutting, but most who bag go for the pinchweld look (most might be too much, A LOT?) It is your's do with it as you please, but cutting up is the same reason people say a converted 4X isn't worth as much, right? To me a modified (beyound the simple stuff {C-notch, etc}) is in the same boat as a 4X made into a 2wd. Put a 73 and up, 72 if period correct is important, front end on a 4X and C-notch with bags and a strongarm rear set up and how is a modified 2wd and 4X different? they will look identical?

All points are taken. Stock resto's are nice but just not for me. My 70 factory 2wd is one of the most rare blazers since it was the first yr of the 2wd but when I am done their will not be a stock panel or piece left on it. It will get the full LFD treatment and be a jaw dropper as well. I think a full custom rig will most always bring more money than a compairable restored stocker and they are so much more fun to drive

I agree fully, a loaded out custom may be worth more than an original, but it's not worth more because it an original 2wd, but because it has 100's of thousands of $$$ thrown at it!! I don't think anyone can convince me or anyone that really thinks about it that a 2wd should be cut up rather than a 4x (frames now, not whole Blazers). All things are equal when doing major frame mods so then why not the more common and seemingly less desireable 4X frame in the interest of saving the rare 2wd frame?
