a little different direction

well i have been busy working out of town in vegas the last 4 months, so i got nothing done on my shortbed, so got back into town and the jeep wasnt cutting it and the little s-10 was a bit small so i picked up a new hemi. but after riding in my buddys 69 bazer with blown 548 and 33 inch mickeys stuffed under it and he even got rid of the hard top and smoothed all the doors and winshield after deleting the side glass. i tore apart the shortbed again and took an extra cab i had and cut the back out and i still need to finish hacking off the roof. but i think im going to convert this into a blazer, and i already moved the rear axle forward. but im also going to froget about side glass and smooth, but i might try to shorten a rear set of doors and throw a set of rear doors on and have a 67 tahoe roadster. i know i got issues. but i think im liking this. cant wait to finally throw in the twin turbo 468 sittin in the corner.

Re: a little different direction

You'll want something more in the front bedside/door latch area but maybe you've already addressed that.

What are the plans for the windshield frame?

Re: a little different direction

last night i got the doors cut and hung on, i think i will cut the doors down to the same as the top of the bed line. and i have a spare bedside from a long bed, i will just cut the top edge off the bed to use as a cap for the doors.

Re: a little different direction

Did you shorten the frame or is it still an intact SWB frame?

Any shots of the cab/bed floors coming together?

I'm betting this turns out to be a wicked ride.

Re: a little different direction

the truck started out as a 72 longbed gmc, and i shortend the frame for a shortbed. but decided on a blazer, but i got a trailing arm setup for a 72 chevy and i have it just placed under to adjust it within iches of where i will want the wheelbase. but im thinking i might leave it a bit longer on wheelbase so and bob the rear a little, so i can try and get that tahoe look. and after the bedsides are cleand up and welded and the floor is finished. i want to figure out how to add the 4th doors. i have a bunch of doors and 2 sets of door jamb areas from cabs to make it work. i think i will narrow the rear doors to suburban size and and do the jambs the same. and suicide the rear doors. so it will have the notch for the wheel opening coming into the door.

Re: a little different direction

Here's an Idea of what your rear door openings might look like. According to your rendering your notches will be bigger than this:

Re: a little different direction

worked on it a little today, i got the floor removed from the bed and also detached rear bed support from floor to use as a guide to mount the bedsides to the cab. and trimmed off 1 inch in front of bed and slid bedside tight to cab. but i have 1 ?, what are the tempory fasteners everyone uses to secure 2 panels together so it can be welded. just wondering what there called and what the best place to get them.

Re: a little different direction

Here's a good thread on those little clips. After a few posts they talk about the best way to use them so you don't get such a big gap.

Dang, I barely have time to even drive my truck (and it's my daily driver). Where do you find time to work on three projects at once?

That's a good lookin' Jeep (for a Jeep).
