Vertical CD Player Install?

Anybody know if I can mount my Alpine CD Player in a vertical orientation as opposed to the typical dash mount horizontal way? I do not want to cut my dash and with bucket seats was thinking of building a center console which I could mount my CD player in.

Sorry, new to forum and do not know how to post pics yet. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

To Answer your original post, yes you can mount your CD Player vertical if you want to. You may get a little more skipping, but that's about it. I have mounted many CD players vertically, and all but one did as well as it would have horizontally. The one that didn't do so well was an older Pioneer player.

Re: Vertical CD Player Install?

Cool. Thanks for the heads up. I had read through the manual provided with the player and tried a couple of google searches with no luck. As I peeled away layers of cool guy feaux wood applied to my dash I discovered an assortment of drill holes, cut outs and other anomolies. So I deciced to open up the existing stereo cutout.

Thanks again for the response.

Re: Vertical CD Player Install?

A friend was looking to mount one in his console. I went with him to look for a deck and two different stereo shops both said Alpine decks would work the best vertically. I don't know for sure, as he sold the truck before he got around to buying a stereo.

Yeah it should work fine. Ya if your dash was already hacked might as well use the original spot and go with that.
