steerin box need help ASAP.

Hey guys trying to get my steering hooked up and ran into a snag. I counted 30 splines on the shaft and it measured at 3/4. I ordered a 3/4 DD x 30 spline u-joint and it doesn't fit over the shaft of the steering box. Do I have something that isn't normal? Or am I measuring wrong. I counted the splines multiple times coming up with 30. It is a 70 c10 w/power steering BTW.

How did you come up with 30? When you have a shaft with a flat spot like yours, find the middle of the shaft and count half the spines and double that number. I'm guessing that you needed a 13/16 DD X 36.

I definitely counted 30 again just now but I measured in better light and it seems to be a tad over 3/4".

It should either be a 3/4" - 30 or a 13/16" -36.

"...ordered a 3/4 DD x 30 spline..."
While it seems it might fit, you don't have a DD (double D) shaft. The box shaft is a D (think of the flat on the shaft as the flat on the D). DD has 2 flats.
Why do you need expensive aftermarket parts?

Yes the new steering shaft is 3/4 dd and the box shaft is what I thought was a 3/4 30 spline. So I ordered the correct conversion joint. Yes the shaft on the box has a flat spot/D shaped. Do they make an aftermarket joint that is D-shaped on one side and 3/4 DD on the other? I'm installing an aftermarket tilt that has a 3/4 DD on the end and need to connect to steering box. Not a cheap way to connect this that I know of.
