Latest Project finished and working(69 4x4 dually)

This has been my latest project that I put together. Just something I wanted to put together for my own daily driver/work truck.

That`s great!I will need better pictures when you can swing it .Is it a cab`n`clip set on a factory K30 frame? You have what I`ve wanted for a long time.I have my eye on two K30 dual wheel trucks in my area.I just don`t have funds.Neither have dump bodies, though.I should wait and go that route since that`s what I want to end up with.
Tell us about it.What was the donor, etc?

Re: Latest Project finished and working(69 4x4 dually)

My pictures all seem to be dark, here are a couple more...I'll take more when I get a chance. The donor was a 79 Camper Special that was rotted out, took off the cab and box, put in my 400 small block, made some cab mounts and set on the cab and clip. The flat bed was an old one I had from long ago, the hoist and pump was also off another donor truck I had and scrapped. (the truck that donated the pump and hoist I bought for $400 3 years ago, kept the parts I needed and hauled the rest to the yard and got $590 this past summer) Its a 4 speed with 4.56 gears, the 400 and retained the hydro assist on the brakes. Mostly made from parts I had accumulated over the years.

Cheap farm implement enamel, International Harvester red from the local farm supply store at $29.95 per gallon. This was a low budget truck!

Re: Latest Project finished and working(69 4x4 dually)

It took some time and measuring, but wasn't to difficult. I made new ones for the back of the cab, welded a spacer and a flat piece of steel to the existing front cab mounts; and the radiator support mounts had to be moved back and up accomplished with 2 1/2'' square tubing. Had to cut a new hole for the clutch linkage (used the z-bar from the 79, the rest from the 69 cab), and had to redrill a couple holes in the mount on the hydroboost to get it to line up with the existing mounting bolts on the cab.

That`s the greatest thing about your truck. You used what you had, kept the price down, and ended up with a totally awesome AND very useful classy work truck. If I could come across the right truck, that`s what I`ll do.I guess I could find it in a couple few trucks like you did. That`s just a cool chore boy and you`ll get as much attention (or more) as you would in a snazzed-up pickup.

Now THATS a truck. No nonsense, you did it with what you had on hand, and you're not afraid to work it.

And isn't that implement enamel nice? haha. Oliver Green here.
