Oil Pressure Line Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Installed a new 350 engine in my truck and the oil pressure line doesn't seem to fit anywhere on the engine or the hole is a different size. Is there an adapter or something I can use so I can still have my oil gauge work?

That part of the fitting fits inside the fitting that screws into the back of the block. The one that fits in the block I believe is 1/8" NPT and that part at the end of the copper line fits in to that.

Don't start your new engine without anything in that hole in the rear of the block or you will have oil EVERYWHERE!

Here is a photo but this is not as good as SWB4x4 because I don't know the part number or where to buy.. Maybe Ace Hardware too; theirs are all non-lead fittings now and they are more expensive than the automotive versions that are still okay with lead content in the bronze...

If you have the dual dipstick block make sure your dipstick tube hole in the block (opposite of wherever you put the dipstick) is plugged with that little steel plug.. passenger side or drivers side..No offense I hope but I just have read about so many people missing that..

I could have been worse! Once, I forgot to reattach that line to the back of my gauge. Oil everywhere INSIDE the truck

Hmmm...i did that once too. Guess where the oil went? All over my brand new medium blue carpet....it took alot of scrubbung and different chemicals and even more cussing, but i got it all out finally

I guess I'm not the first, second, or third to have accidentally run the truck without the gauge connected! I got lucky in that it landed on a floor mat, though.

I spent quite a bit of time last night searching through old posts trying to find information on the engine block adapter. I headed over to Napa today and they sell them. Their part number is 6200x2.
