So i got my 350 fired up in my 69, healthy motor, lots of power. Its a 87 tbi motor swapped to carb.I backed it off the lift drove around for 10 mins, was running strong, then it started not wanting to idle. Its got hei, so i checked the timing, it was a good 15 degress, its getting constant fuel. Once the truck dies, the battery will die too and it would need a jump.. I felt my ground wire on the battery, it was SMOKIN hot, the positive was cool though.

Could this issue be an electricle problem? WHAT IS GOING ON?!?! i wanna melt some tires

Heres my ground. My main ground then my ground to my motor

I sanded it to bare metal with a fresh bolt

you have a fat load either from your starter or alt. check them both looks like. also, from the pics, the ground from your chassis to motor looks kinda small, install a bigger wire(since your starter has to use that ground too). bolt it up somewhere but the header i recommend.

both ground wires? i used the original ground to the battery post.

I would replace all your cables. The Negs look small and the Pos is melted. I would replace and reroute away from everything heat producing. I also would not route the grounding wire to the headers. Heat is running down that wire and prob up the other. Get it to another spot that isn't going to be that hot.

how clean are the connections on the battery?

Both have new clamps. Where abouts on the motor should i put my ground to? the head? What about the frame, farther back down the frame?

i like to put grounds to the head// the headers to start off are small bolts with small heads giving minimal contact area add to that exhaust gaskets and it's not an ideal path for eelectricity// my choice has most always been #0gauge or larger cable, but i've been accused of overdoing it
