lift kit & tire + wheel size help 72' longbed

im picking up a 72 longbed 4x4 next week and i cant decide on how big of a lift i need or how big of a tire & wheel combo, it has a 74' 4x4 chassis underneath it, i was thinking about a 6" skyjacker e-z ride lift w/ black 20" KMC Diesels on 35" nitto terra grapplers, any advice and or pictures would help thanks guys

Re: lift kit & tire + wheel size help 72' longbed

I cant say positively because I dont have the Blazer anymore and I know offsets play a big part in it . My 72 blazer had 38" Dick Cepek Fun Country's on a 15X10 wheel. It had a 4" Rancho leaf spring lift in it and we pie cut the wheel openings from the bottom up about 1" wide to a point 6" up front and rear .... if that makes sense. I think with 6"s of lift my 38"s would have cleared with no cutting. Having a different chassi under it probably changes some things tho.

I am in and out of the shop constantly .... Best thing to do is call and set something up. Besides running the shop .... I travel and buy cars for a New Car Dealer out of Wichita.

NOW ON 38X14.50X17s and I love the look and fit. I do not wheel my old girl so I`m not sure about axel travel, but snow and road it works great!!

Re: lift kit & tire + wheel size help 72' longbed

im really basing my options off of getting my dad in and out of it too, hes got arthritis really bad so it cant be TOO tall, i think a 4" or a 6" would be sufficient to clear the 35's and look right and not rub

Re: lift kit & tire + wheel size help 72' longbed

Am I crazy (dumb question) or is the image of that smiling woman, and that Blazer in the last pic just about perfection?

What are the plans for the truck?

I'm not trying to prove anything, and I desire to make my junk roadworthy, not cartoonish, but at the same time capable when the pavement ends. Too much to ask?

I would try to get a tire that sort of goes with the radius of the fenders...

I think if you look at the front of the wheel openings on that blazer they have been cut just like I had to on my Blazer

Re: lift kit & tire + wheel size help 72' longbed

I know you might be able to get away with a 4" if its not used offroad it its going to see some flex to be on the safe side I would go with 6" then that would be plenty. Sounds like its gonna be an awesome project have fun with it

I bough the kit from 4 Wheel Parts. I think is a Sky Jacker 6" lift kit. it rides good to me. But I have had lifted trucks most of my life so i'm use to stiff ride.

I'm not sure if the kit I have is Ez ride. I run about 36 lbs of air in the tires to help with the ride.

Re: lift kit & tire + wheel size help 72' longbed

3/4 ton long bed with 4'' lift and 35's. Probably not enough room for off roading, and still a work in progress so I haven't had it out on the road, but it might give you an idea of what it looks like.
