gonna be getting a 2000 model 3/4 ton...a few questions...

hey all, I'm supposed to be getting a 2000 model chevy 2500 for xmas, and just wanted to know if there is anything that a first time owner should know about these trucks...the newest vehicle i own is a 1973 volkswagen bus...so i'm not used to driving anything newer. sooo, any tips on parts to buy, preventative stuff to invest in...anything like that would be greatly appreciated. thank you all in advance.

Is it a old body style with a 5.7/7.4 or a new body with a 6.0?

I honestly have no clue... Still have yet to see it. I was told that it was a gmc...not a chevy, and it has a 350 engine with an automatic trans. It's lwb and ext. cab...I'm hoping it's the new body style...we'll see...

They are good trucks, but do have stupid little problems. #1 is intake gaskets leaking antifreeze outside or INSIDE the engine if they have not been changed, change them as soon as possible, fuel pressure regulator leaking (inside the upper intake) , in extreme cases they catch fire inside the intake and melt the injection unit (spider). Oil leaks from the oil cooler adapter on the block(easy fix), front brake hoses going bad and causing brake pull/drag.

So, if it has the 350 and is a 2000 model gmc 3/4 ton ext. Cab lwb, is it the newer body style or the old one?? Or is it still a toss up?

If it's a 350 it's the old body style like the 88-98's. However some people think that the 6.0's are still 350's as well.
