I just dont understand sometimes

http://fayetteville.craigslist.org/cto/1545154651.html

Not bashing, not the intent what so ever.

How would you come up for a price on this truck, especially after seeing the picture?

I get if its a high option truck, but still its wrecked......who knows the real damage.

These trucks are not extinct, heck I own three at the moment. Now if you want more varity go to the southwest and search crailgslist, youll find a bunch. (Been there done that) Even the northwest has more than Ive seen here in NC.

Economy is bad, unemployment is high, put a high price on stuff, is that the right equation to sell?

Seems this guy really doesnt want to sell it......my opinion, he should be happy if he gets 1200.

Thoughts..

Re: I just dont understand sometimes

Doesn't look all that bad to me. But who knows if it has frame damage.

But as a frequent resell of cars/trucks i know you have to price them high so you can come down.

I mean, i do it all the time.

Can't price it at what you will take. Everyone wants to beat you down on price. I do it.

Re: I just dont understand sometimes

Wrecks are a LOT higher than most people think. I saw a 72 lwb 4x4 in the salvage sale I buy from several months ago. It was way past nice someone had built it right tilt tac air bigblock[not factory I know so don't bash me]. it had damage to the back of the cab the bed was toast and one door would not open for the pressure on it. It sold for 7500. Late models for the most part are the sme way. It is true you don't know what you are getting but 9 times out of 10 people are not thinking about trading or getting rid of a car or truck at the time of a wreck. I have never bought a wreck that was setting in a shop some where getting worked on. When I see one at the sale with not much damage that is when you back away from trouble.I have been buying wrecks since 1987 and rarly have any drivetrian trouble A lot of people think that I go to the sale buy a truck for a grand spend a grand then sell it for ten grand that is not so. Re: I just dont understand sometimes

Fayetteville area prices have gone nuts in the past few years. Our trucks use to be all over in farm fields and backyards around there. Tons of parts in yards etc. The trend started about 8 years ago to scoop em all up around base, and the prices jumped hardcore.

I would not give 4k for that truck in that condition myself. But it doesn't surprise me that, thats the amount they think its work. Bet in a few weeks it will be listed for a bit less.

Very good point...Most of us will start high knowing that we will need to negotiate downwards. It does seem high but each area of the country has it's on price level when it comes to these trucks.

Re: I just dont understand sometimes

I think there are so many out there that just don't have a clue as to how to price a truck.

I agree that you should build in some wiggle room, but how much is wiggle and how much is just to much.

Here's one that listed for 3000.00 and doesn't not have a motor or transmission.

Re: I just dont understand sometimes

Location, location, location. Where I live a clean "looking" short box a/c truck needing a left fender, inner, hood, grill etc, and possibly a light frame tug would be a STEAL!!! at that price. Just sayin...
